A weekend of wildfires forced people out of their homes and campgrounds in three states. At least three fires were burning in Polk County,North Carolina,an area still recovering from Hurricane Helene. A fire in South Carolina’s Blue Ridge Mountains led to an emergency declaration and a blaze in New Jersey’s Wharton State Forest grew to more than 3.5 square miles.
