
A combination of storm surge and large,battering waves from Hurricane Matthew altered a part of the northeast Florida coastline.

Between St. Augustine and Palm Coast,a small new inlet was carved out by the powerful water pounding the coast.
The new inlet can be seen in this before-and-after image. A NOAA aircraft taking aerial photography after the storm this weekend illustrated what the National Weather Service confirmed in an official survey.

NOAA's imagery also gave us a bird's-eye view of the damage done to A1A in Flagler Beach.

Farther north,you can see where a home was taken out in Edisto Beach,South Carolina,by Matthew. In addition,the image shows the sand that was spread inland from the coast onto the road.
