Tropical Depression Two developed on June 14,2021,just over 100 miles east of Cape Hatteras,North Carolina. It then strengthened into Tropical Storm Bill late that evening.
Bill tracked away from the U.S. and never affected any land areas. Its peak winds hit 60 mph on June 15 as it raced farther out to sea.
The final advisory for Bill was issued by the National Hurricane Center late on June 15.
The formation of Bill was induced by the energy and spin from an old frontal boundary lingering over warm Gulf Stream waters off the Southeast coast. Dying fronts are one of several ways that tropical depressions and storms can develop.
