Tropical Storm Erika dissipated Saturday morning as it crossed the island of Cuba;however,it left destruction in its wake.
Heavy rain and mudslides killed at least 20 people in the small Lesser Antilles island of Dominica. At least 31 people remain missing, and according to Prime Minister Roosevelt Skerrit, the nation's developmental progress has been set back 20 years by the storm's wrath. After Erika passed, about 80 percent of the island has been left without electricity.
At least 11 houses were destroyed in the Dominican Republic.
Remnants of the storm are still moving toward southern Florida, and meteorologists warn Floridians to prepare for possible heavy rains and flooding. Florida Gov. Rick Scott has already declared a state of emergency in the Sunshine State, urging families and officials in all counties to prepare for the storm.
